The cherry blossom was a symbol of fleeting beauty in Japan “sakura” which is closely associated with samurai and bushi. It takes on great importance in Japanese gardens. Flowering is said to begin in southern Japan in mid-March and end in early May in the northeast. Its delicately sweet smell is very appreciated.
