Very widely used in perfumery, because it is a natural fixer of “top aromas” and, for its soft and slightly sweet base note, sandalwood is extracted from the bark of Santalum, which grows in India, in Australia and Oceania. Main ingredient of incense, it is widely used in Asian temples. Due to the rarity of the tree, this essential oil costs over €1200 per liter.
